Happy New Years

Hello to everyone. I have a gift card from the QBD. My husband, Jim, gave it to me for Christmas. I was supposed to put a bunch of stuff on my wish list at the store, but I forgot. Oops. But, a gift card is really fun. Shopping without a bit of guilt. I first decided on a new pair of embroidery scissors with sharp tips. Mine are so old they don't cut to the tips. Next on my imaginary list is the M'LIss Rae Hawley fat quarter quilts book and a selection of fat quarters, everything I need for a quick quilt for my favorite chair. Also, that Quilt Bug fabric, I think that will make a really cute "Miranda Bag" to carry my projects to the shop on Open Sew Monday. So, that is all I got today, but there is still a little balance left for another fun day. Home to get started. I finished another Messenger Bag, getting in practice for the class. This time I put the decorative pocket on the front. Check out the pic. Well, I am off to work on a new project for a little while. Carol

My First Post

Hello to everyone. My name is Carol and I will be blogging here at Quilted Bear Den. I work here part-time, teach classes, and hang around the shop a lot. Hopefully, I'll be able to inspire some creativity by letting you know what came to mind as I wander the shop and straighten all the fat quarters. I just must touch everything. Just today I was able to spend some creative time in my little corner of the rumpus room. I have been itching to get back to the machine for a while, with the holiday prep and everything that goes on, there has been little time to sew. The block of the month for the perpetual calendar was first on my list. A snow flake done in Hawaiian appliqué needed finishing and it came out rather nicely. So, one down and next was a new name tag for the shop. Just a little binding on the name, and two down. Next, a new curtain for the powder room window. I have been eying the Nikishi Koi fabric, thinking those koi fish swimming in the window might be kind of fun. So with one yard of fabric, some quick turning, pressing and sewing of edges, they are now swimming at my house. Check out the photo.

That was all the sewing time for today, I promised myself I would get out in the air for a walk to work on the "quilters spread" that is always threating. Can't wait to start the next project, I am thinking a messenger bag and a new wallet. Bye Bye for now. Carol
